Chelsfield Access Control System Available
Second Quarter 2010 |
|
|
|
|
|
Chelsfield Solutions software for public access control is scheduled for initial testing and trial during the
second quarter 2010. The system is aimed at two main markets the first being an inexpensive "Front of House" system aimed at SME's and the second is to provide a lower cost offering for firms needing higher security for its personnel and on-site contractors.
To begin with the new system will accept most standard peripherals such as cameras, card and barcode readers. Later, an ever wider range of physical barrier access devices is expected to be added to the catalogue. Currently Chelsfield is in negotiation with two London based organisations for potential exclusive distribution rights to VAR's |

The
Need for Encryption - Is the Penny
Finally Dropping? |
|
|
|
|
|
UK Government departments and corporate industry are still failing to apply adequate standards for data security. Details of nearly 100 cases of data breaches, two thirds committed by government departments or other public sector bodies have been passed to the authorities, said Richard Thomas the UK Information Commissioner.
Chelsfield security systems can work in the background, this overcomes the essential problem which is that staff are mostly unaware of how sensitive data can leak out, or what needs to be done to prevent it. Education is also a key factor, inadequate security management and awareness of how personal information can be used to forge authentication to provide illegal access to sensitive data is also lacking.
A new chairman of the Information Commission, Christopher Graham, was appointed in June of this year. Since then
it all seems a bit quiet.
Is the penny finally dropping? - we don't
think so! |

Encryption Class Wrapper V3.0 |
|
|
|
|
|
Chelsfield Encryption
Library components have been in use
since 2001 by many organisations both large and
small, however, these have been sold as
part of bundled packages from third
party software vendors. Now
though, a new initiative
has been launched to make the encryption
class library accessible directly to
programmers at a low cost. Encryption Class library (ECL)
components are now available
through the large distribution houses
such as CNET and Microsoft Marketplace
but are not sold through by Chelsfield
directly, unless connected to a specific
development application.
Chelsfield offers direct technical support
and free
support is included for the first year
together with any updates as soon as
these are available. |

Chelsfield
Data Security Components used by
Corporates |
|
|
|
|
|
Recent news concerning the
lack of data security by some UK
government departments (including the
MOD) has prompted Chelsfield to
make available a special version of its
encryption library to third party
software vendors.
As a consequence, these Chelsfield
controls are being used by many blue
chip corporate organisations, both
in the UK and aboard. The library
features a proprietary one way key hash
and polymorphic transformation
techniques making it a very strong
stream cipher that's fast enough to be
used on-the-fly in most
applications. The code is less
than 70k bytes, is self contained and
does not rely on the Windows
API |

Negotiation
Starts with Canadian Aid Organisation |
|
|
|
|
|
Chelsfield Consultants have
been asked to produce mobile telephone
specifications for a major Canadian aid
organisation. One of the largest UK
Telecoms Resellers passed an enquiry to
Chelsfield to handle this part of the
project.
The requirement: 80 sets of
rugged telephone systems equipment that
will be deployed in aid agency camps
around the world with no access to
telephone land lines. Chelsfield
specified compact mobile satellite
terminals hooked up to rugged cordless
telephones with a 300 meter range
operating from a D.E.C.T. (Digitally
Enhanced Cordless Telephony) card in a
rack based telephone system..

Chelsfield
Appointed by Northampton School |
|
|
|
|
|
From July, Chelsfield
Consultants have been appointed to act
as Solutions Architects for a newly
built Northampton school. One of our
consultants was asked to provide a
telephone system specification in an
unusual situation. New premises have
been built for an existing large school
to move into.
However, although the five main
building blocks were flooded with
CAT-5 structured cabling no
multicore cable had been laid
linking these together. Fortunately
a One Gigabyte fibre was available
from the central building to the
other blocks. The solution: The TDM
(Time Divisional Multiplex)
Hybrid telephone system was
IP-enabled and 10-Meg Ethernet
switches were specified in each of
the separate buildings with IP
telephones located as required. This
solution came out at under half the
cost of laying a multicore cable. |

Encryption
Modules Applied new Secure Mail Client
(SeE-Mail) |
|
|
|
|
|
The advanced encryption
system launched by Chelsfield
early in 2005 is being applied to a new
secure e-mail client development. The
program will enable secure peer to peer
e-mail without the need to worry about
complex setups or client configuration
settings. In addition the system is
completely free of malicious code such
as worms, trojans, viruses and SPAM
because any message without a valid
signature is automatically
trashed.
The heart of the system is a new and
very fast polymorphic stream cypher that
is currently being used as a modular
component in dozens of third party
applications. What makes this
unique, is that the key hash is partly
derived from the clear text of the
message by a special algorithm. The
message can actually be zero bytes long
and yet still generate a unique 1024 bit
key. |

Data
Protection Software Updated |
|
|
|
|
|
The DPM-07 (Data Protection
Module) is new software from Chelsfield
that provides an easy facility for any
person or organisation to secure any
type of secret or sensitive computer
data. The utility does not require any
specialist knowledge of computers,
encryption or file security.
The release is a major update and whilst
all encryption and functional routines
are similar to the existing system, this
new version is a complete re-write of
the user controls. The Windows explorer
style interface has been enhanced, and
now supports large icon views and
context menus. Also gone are the
two independent file list panels, these
are replaced with a single panel that
has been found to be easier to use.
PowerDPM also replaces the Microsoft
delete function with a proper file erase
mechanism. |

New
Project Management and Design
Consultancy Team |
|
|
|
|
|
Chelsfield has now setup an
experienced team of IT professionals who
can call on the resources of large well
chosen resellers, and are able to offer
the following services to clients:
Project Management, PBX replacement,
LAN/WAN design, installation and
restructuring, Voice over IP
integration, security, contact center
design including CTI, recorders and
bespoke software integration, telephone
call pattern analysis and design
consultancy.
To start the process Chelsfield
recommends a system-wide health check,
this will usually show how client
operating cost can be significantly
reduced. Chelsfield Solutions put it
this way: "Our fees can always be
justified because we save the client far
more than we take, besides providing
them with real-world solutions that
energize their business." |
